Semaglutide/tirzepatide

Semaglutide and Tirzepatide are injectable medications belonging to a class of drugs called GLP-1 receptor agonists developed to treat type 2 diabetes also found to promote weight loss. Both Semaglutide and Tirzepatide mimic the effects of GLP-1 (glucagon-like peptide ) resulting in decreased hunger and cravings, enhanced insulin secretion and blood sugar control. Tirzepatide, aso GIP (gastric inhibitory peptide), further helps facilitate metabolism. Semaglutide was approved for weight loss in 2021; Tirzepatide was approved for weight loss in 2023.
